Our Commitment to the Environment

Being surrounded by the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is both a privilege and a responsibility.
At Hotel Monte Pana we work every day to reduce our environmental footprint and to protect the unique landscape around us. Below you’ll find an overview of the main actions we have already implemented.

Energy & Climate

• New high-efficiency boiler
We have installed a state-of-the-art high-efficiency boiler that ensures excellent heat output with a much cleaner combustion. This means lower consumption and significantly less smoke from the chimney, which benefits both the climate and local air quality.

• 100% renewable electricity from Alperia
All the electricity we use in the hotel comes from “Green Energy Alperia” and is generated 100% from renewable sources. This helps us reduce the CO₂ emissions linked to our daily energy use.

• Largest photovoltaic system in Val Gardena
On Monte Pana we operate a photovoltaic system that is currently the largest in Val Gardena.
The solar power produced supplies both the hotel and the Mont Sëura cableway, supporting a more sustainable infrastructure in the mountains.
Guests can even see real-time production data here:

Mobility & Staff

• Staff accommodation within walking distance
Most of our team members live very close to the hotel. This allows them to walk to work or use very short transfers, which significantly reduces traffic and related emissions in the area.

• EV charging station
We offer a charging station for electric cars to our guests – an incentive to travel to the Dolomites with lower-emission vehicles.

Water, Housekeeping & Wellness

• Drinking water from the Sassolungo mountain
Our drinking water comes from a spring from the Sassolungo/Langkofel. We use this precious resource responsibly and are proud to share its purity and quality with our guests.

• Certified sustainable cleaning products
In our housekeeping department, we use cleaning products by Hygan, a company known for its high performance and sustainability certifications in the professional cleaning sector. This allows us to maintain excellent hygiene standards while reducing environmental impact.

• Biodegradable amenities & slippers
The bathroom amenities in our rooms are made from biodegradable materials, helping to reduce single-use plastic.
We also kindly invite our guests to bring their own slippers from home for their stay and spa visits. If needed, slippers are available free of charge at reception, but we encourage reuse to reduce waste.

• Low-temperature laundry & ozone sanitation
In our laundry we prioritise low-temperature washing cycles, supported by machines from the company Pulimav with ozone-based sanitation. This technology ensures deep cleaning while lowering energy consumption and reducing the use of aggressive detergents.

Waste, Recycling & Circular Economy

• Waste separation: about 85% recycled
At Hotel Monte Pana, we apply strict waste separation: around 85% of our waste is sent for recycling, substantially reducing the amount of residual waste.

• Plastic: recycled whenever possible
Wherever possible, plastic is recycled, including items such as shampoo bottles and other containers. Our goal is to limit the use of new plastic and to keep existing materials in circulation.

Sourcing & Supply Chain

• Short supply chains and conscious sourcing
We also pay close attention to where our raw materials come from. In 2025:

  • 25% of our supplies came from South Tyrol,
  • 42% from the rest of Italy,
  • 26% from other European countries.

In this way we support the local economy, keep transportation distances shorter whenever possible, and choose suppliers who share our values of quality and responsibility.

Looking Ahead

These initiatives are not the final destination, but part of an ongoing journey. For us, sustainability is a continuous process: we are committed to improving step by step, finding new solutions to protect the Dolomites while offering our guests a stay that combines comfort with environmental awareness.
